Made to measure suits use a premade pattern that is then altered to fit your measurements. These suits often have a more limited range of fabrics to choose from.
Ready To Wear Suits
Ready to wear suits are off-the-rack and made in a range of common sizes which you can either wear as is or take to a tailor to alter for a better fit.
Suit Separates
A lot of retailers nowadays sell suit separates where you can buy jackets and trousers separately. This gives you more choice when it comes to finding the most appropriate size to wear as is or to get slightly altered.
